SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The Leadership School offers three programs for schools: residential, outreach, and educator-in-residence.

Residential

Our residential program — which runs from September through November and from mid-April through May — is housed on our Kieve campus. Program options range from a full day to an entire school week. Students and their teachers explore our curriculum and world-class challenge course facilities. Activities promote challenge by choice in an environment that allows participants to safely push their comfort zones and grow.

Challenge Course
The challenge course is a series of high- and low-elements where students push comfort zones, have fun, and learn how to be a collaborative and effective member of a team, all while pushing their limits and building resilience.
  • High Elements: Whether up in the trees or on the indoor climbing wall, students practice being aware of their boundaries, the boundaries of others, and how to make responsible decisions in real-life situations.
  • Low Elements: On cables or wooden structures no higher than two feet off the ground, students rely on each other to accomplish a group challenge using critical thinking skills and collaboration.

Outreach

Explore the same experiential social-emotional learning and environmental stewardship curriula as the residential program, instead using the participating school’s classroom and indoor and outdoor school spaces rather than KWE’s challenge course and campus.

Schedules look different depending on the needs and structure of the school. They can range from a full day to a full week during normal school hours from September through November and from mid-April through May.

Educator-in-Residence

From late November to mid-April, our Educator-in-Residence program partners with local schools to put TLS educators directly into the classroom, providing an outstanding role model where it is needed most. The program expands each school’s capacity and enables more students to receive individualized support. Our educators serve multiple purposes including:
  • assisting in core curriculum instruction and/or student teaching hours;
  • after school extracurricular programming;
  • mentoring; and
  • EASEL (social-emotional learning) instruction.
This program provides an invaluable expert in our experiential approach to social-emotional learning who will find a way to effectively support their school with the goal of helping each student they interact with become more socially and emotionally competent learners and community members.
